About Those Dreams

DREAMS COME TRUE

Since I was a child, I have dreamed of restoring old buildings. Back in the 1970‘s, while driving though the old warehouse district of downtown Minneapolis with my father, I saw the potential of these architectural gems that were left in disrepair and near collapse. Many of those I once dreamed about have since been brought back to full grandeur, with a new usefulness and repurpose.

ONLY BY CHANCE

In 2006, it was only by chance that I found this building available for sale. It previously was home to a Lutheran congregation which built a new home on the East end of Staples and offered this property for sale. It was in need of a new purpose, to give it new life, someone to love it and appreciate it for all its grandeur. I looked beyond the disrepair and abandonment, to see what this building could be, and how others could benefit from the use of the building.

HARDWOOD FLOORS GLEAMED IN THE SUNLIGHT

When the restoration was complete, the oak hardwood floors gleamed in the sunlight. The sound of excitement was heard bouncing off the soaring cathedral beamed ceilings and plaster walls. And a glimmer of stained glass shone in the sun. All of these remain and were saved from demolition. Old world craftsmanship such as this would be difficult and extremely costly to replicate today.

WHERE MEMORIES ARE MADE

I am extremely passionate about saving this planet, one old building at a time. For this is our history, where memories were and continue to be created, And I am so thankful I am able to share this beautiful architecture with all of you.

The Landmark Inn building began its life in 1937 as the Norwegian - Lutheran Church, later becoming home to Faith Lutheran. In 2005 it was a real dream come true to call a former church home with its incredible architectural features, its grand open spaces, cathedral beamed ceiling, and old growth oak hardwood floors. Therefore, it was only natural to want to share this experience with others.

COUNTLESS CELEBRATIONS, EVENTS, AND RETREATS

The Landmark Inn opened in the fall of 2008. We have hosted countless celebrations, community events, fundraisers, arts and cultural experiences, retreats, weddings, and much more.

Come and join the fun!
